PANTHER POETRY

Poetry by Dr. Tolbert Small

Caretaker

We are not owners of Mother Earth;
We are merely caretakers for future generations.
We must let our forests grow.
We must let our animals roam.
We must let our rivers flow.

We should take only what we need.
We must pick only flowers for today;
We must leave some for tomorrow.
We must save the future for our children's children.
We must let the salmon swim and the buffaloes roam.

-- Tolbert Small

Dancing Feet

Dancing feet, jump up to kiss the sky.
Hippity hop, hippity hop bow down to touch the sky.
Shake, shake your chega like a pound of jelly.
Our spirit lives through dancing;
Dancing lives through our spirit.
