Artie Seale
Artie Seale, former wife of the Chairman of the BPP, was
there from the start. She supported Bobby and the Party.
She cooked, typed up all the first drafts of the 10-Point
Program and many other important Party documents. Many a
day would start at 6:00am until after midnight, working on
Party business.
The Party's first guns for self-defense were bought with
money from Artie's paycheck, along with gas money, bail
money, and money for leaflets. Artie also went to
Sacramento with Bobby and other Panthers in 1967 to protest
the Mulford Act.
A strong and devoted sister, Artie stood beside Bobby
during all the many attempts to railroad him to jail;
Oakland, Chicago and New Haven. She spoke at many rallies
in support of Bobby and the Party.
Presently, Artie is living and working in the East Bay.
She is a mother, grandmother, and skilled piano teacher.
She is in the process of releasing her book on her
experience with the BPP.
