Greetings All:

This news article appears to be accurate in giving up details of this latest development, the release to an outside hospital of Herman Wallace.

While I'm certainly pleased that Herman Wallace will not die in prison, but surrounded by his loved ones on the outside in a public hospital, I take issue with people saying he's a "free man."

May I remind you of another longtime prisoner of solitary confinement, Hugo 'Yogi Bear" Pinell (43 years in solitary to date!) who has written (paraphrasing) they can't free me; that's not freedom out there. they can only release me; I've found my personal freedom.  And since Yogi goes to board again this month, 10/22, facing a 15-year hit (thanks to Prop. 9), I hope folks will find the time and energy to support Yogi's last chance to be with his aging mother in San Francisco and the rest of his family and friends, myself included.

Let us also not forget to rally around Albert Woodfox, the last of the Angola 3, still suffering over 40 years of solitary confinement.  Let us make sure he does not wind up suffering a terminal illness before he's out of there. Demand his immediate release now!  www.angola3.org

Then, please don't forget about our Lynne Stewart, who is terminally ill with cancer and fighting for compassionate release so as not to die in prison. www.lynnestewart.org

All these tragedies are indicative of a failed prison system that must be abolished.  We need to get a prison abolition movement going strong to begin to address the punitive mindset of the general public resulting from this new form of slavery, the new plantation, so clearly illustrated by Angola State Prison in Louisiana.

We have the power!  We are the overwhelming majority!  The tiny fraction of 1% that calls the shots in this "dollarocracy" is grossly outnumbered.  But for our numbers to count, we must unite!!  And that's the hard part.

Power to the people.  Abolish the prison system.  Release all political prisoners NOW!

"It is the task of the people of the whole world to put an end to the aggression and oppression perpetrated by imperialism, and chiefly by U.S. imperialism."

People of the world, unite!
