For goodness sake, why in the world would you not let this elder die at home in peace with his family? After over 40 years of torture in solitary confinement, you can't find the humanity to release him for his last few weeks on the planet??!! But you wouldn't release Lynne Stewart either, so it's clear to me that "fascism has temporarily succeeded under the guise of reform." (George L. Jackson). Of course, I'm speaking rhetorically because we all know this system has no compassion, no humaneness, no empathy whatsoever. Just peep what they're doing to California's prison hunger strikers!

"My own body has now become a tool of torture against me." – Herman Wallace, 'Angola 3' prisoner, who is dying from liver cancer

Show humanity for Herman

Gov. Jindal can end the nightmare for 71-year-old Herman Wallace and ensure that a dying man won’t spend his final days alone in a prison cell.

Herman only has weeks to live – please add your signature to this growing petition right now.

There's just one correction I would make to Amnesty's post:  While 41 years is a horrendously long period of torture in solitary, Herman and Albert are not the  longest held in the U.S.  Often forgotten, Hugo L.A. Pinell (Yogi Bear) has done 43 years (and counting) in solitary confinement in Ca. gulags, and is currently doing his 23rd year in the Pelican Bay SHU, one of the worst torture chambers in the nation.
