 AUDITION NOTICE!!!
Afeni
Shakur: In Her Defense is a short
play about the self-defense of Afeni Shakur, who was among several leaders
in the Black Panther Party who were charged in a conspiracy to blow up New
York department stores, subway stations, and police stations. Despite most
of her co-defendants objections, Afeni defended herself against 156 charges
that they faced in what became known as the Trial of the Panther 21.
Afeni's son, Tupac Amaru Shakur, was born one month and three days after
her acquittal. The trial became the longest and most reported political
trial in New York State.
The show is scheduled to preview on May 11th and 12th.
Play opens Friday, May 13 - Sunday, May 22.

CASTING:
The play will cast an ensemble of 10 actors between the ages of 18 and 35.
Each actor will play double roles; 6 African Americans (3 males and 3
females) and 4 Caucasians (3 males and 1 female). The actress playing Ms.
Afeni Shakur must be able to sing.
