Greetings All:

It is Black History Month and there iare a number of events happening.   Please check the homepage for details.  This month's Oprah Magazine features an article on one of our Panther Cubs, Mary Williams.   The article can be found on the Children and Revolution link on the menu. They are also doing a piece for the Rachael Ray Show and I have been talking to them daily.

The Party members up in Seattle are working on a Film Festival.  Brother Saint Cyr says things are going well.

April is Fallen Comrade Month and we will be posting photos and articles of comrades who have passed on. If you have any photos you want to share, please email them to me (Billy  X).   In April we will sponsor Richard Aoki Day on the 4th of the month.   The 16th will be Bobby Hutton Day at the West Oakland Library.

Over the past few months, there have been a number of students traveling to visit our archives  "It's About Time"  to collect data on the BPP.  Please check out the Polynesian Panther link which has the new documentary about them. In the video they travel to Sacramento and discover Panther Newspapers in the archives with articles about them from 1974. I would like to thank the Brothers and Sisters from New Zealand for the historical photos they gave us for the archives. Their 40th year anniversary is coming up soon in June.

Brother Emory Douglas is now in Austrailia and will be back next week . He and I will be traveling out of the country next month. We are doing an exhibit in Portugal.  I will be posting one of Emory's murals he has been working on DownUnder.

I would like to thank Brother Marvin Crenshaw (The Mayor) from the Dallas Chapter for the historical infomation about the Dallas Chapter and the the poster with his slogan "It's About Time", which he used in his campaign.  Brother Marvin was a student leader in St Paul.  He organized and brought Emory and the Lumpen to his campus back in 1970.

There is a book being published on Underground Newspapers and "It's About Time Archives" will be featured in the book. There will be a short interview with me (Billy X). We have a large collection of Underground Newspapers from Cali to NY 1965-1975.

A collection of slides from North Peralta Community College was recently discovered.  The pictures were taken by Richard Aoki back in the early 1970's and some of the photos will be shown on April 2nd at the West Oakland Library.

In  August 1971, 40 years ago I was lead pallbearer for Comrade George Jackson, who was killed days earlier. I will host a George Jackson Exhibit in August for George and Jonathan.

Sister Charlotte O'Neal will be in the states from mid February to April and travelling extensively.  She will be in California in mid March.  Check the website for specific activities.

We are planning some events for October to celebrate the 40 year anniversary of the struggle to keep Merritt College in the flatlands.  We will also honor the history of the college and the roots of the BPP.   Check the website for updates.
